Hello well i am a complete newb to jetski's, anyway i have just been brought a Kawasaki 650X2 for my 18th birthday but i haven't a clue about jet ski's. I do know my way around engines and the general mechanical side to it becuase i race quads and do all the work on them, but i am sure there are a lot of things that i have no idea about when it comes to jet ski's. Anyway i have done a bit of research and found the X2 isn't a great ski but it was cheap ( well i think it was) and this is reallly only for me to see if i like riding jet ski's and to learn on.

The X2 is mainly stock apart from a bilage pump and some Hydroturf that i have just ordered tonight Big smile but i was given some advice from the previous owner not to modify it really as i would just be wasting my money lol and insted when i feel its time to buy another ski. So are X2s any good or was it a complete waste of money? Also it is in need of a new battery, so does anyone know where i could buy one from? Is the battery the same as the one for a kawasaki 650sx?

It seems i will be having another addictive and exspensive hobby if i catch the jet ski bug LOL

Cheers James

I will be riding in both the sea and lakes, i have found a place called sixhills that is only 20mins drive from me so i think that could be my main place. But i haven't ridden it yet because i only got it the other day and it was kind of a surprise. Also are you able to ride in rivers?

i would check with sixhills before you go
as i thought six hills was a standup lake only and you might not be allowed on with an x2
(i might be wrong but its worth checking)
also dont forget to get your insurance sorted...

The X2 is a good ski, if it is still standard thats good, getting it running, use it and enjoy it. They were not that quick compared to modern ski's, but if your learning they do take some time to master and this will be great fun. If you need more speed sell it, buy something quicker. Like all powered sports, they cost money. I am sure an 650SX battery will fit, they were pretty much identical.

Hi Robbbb. I think I must agree with you. Can you post some photos of that x2 ski? I really love to see yours. :D

I will post some pics up later today or tomorrow, i went down to six hills yesterday for a look around and to buy a few things. They said it is for stand up only but they said that the x2 is fine and i can ride there with it which was great news.  I have got a new battery for it and fitted some hydro turf because the old mats were a DIY job and were horrible.
